WHAT CHANGES FOR YOU

Eight things that get better

For residents of Seville, this isn't an industrial project you'll never see — it's changes to your street, your bill, your city's budget, and your air.

🗑️
One bin. No more sorting.
Everything your household generates goes into a single enclosed collection vehicle — plastics, food scraps, garden materials, paper. The factory separates and converts everything internally. No more five-fraction bins, no confusion about what goes where.
Simpler for every household
💼
92 permanent manufacturing jobs — in Seville.
The Carbotura facility creates 92 direct full-time skilled manufacturing positions — operators, process engineers, maintenance technicians, logistics staff. Every single role is based in Seville. Beyond that, another 275 indirect roles are expected to follow — in supply chain, professional services, and local business activity — totalling approximately 367 new jobs in the metro economy.

💰
Money flows back to the City — for 30 years.
Carbotura pays the City of Seville a Circular Royalty™ — a cash payment that starts flowing 13 months after the factory opens, and grows every single year for 30 years. In Year 2, that's approximately €19 million. By Year 10, it's approximately €25 million. By Year 30, it exceeds €48 million annually. That money flows into the Ayuntamiento's treasury — to fund services, reduce rates, or invest in infrastructure. It comes from what the factory earns from the products it makes from Seville's materials.
€19M in Year 2 — growing every year
💨
No smell. No odour from your neighbourhood.
Today, food and garden materials rot in transit and at the sorting facility. The Carbotura factory is a fully enclosed, air-locked manufacturing building. No open piles of organic material. No outdoor processing. The conversion happens in a sealed, sub-atmospheric chamber where the materials are broken down by microwave energy — not burned, not composted. Designed to have almost no smell or atmospheric discharge.
Enclosed, airlocked facility — designed for near-zero odour
🌿
Seville's landfill closes down from this programme.
Every tonne of material that goes into the Carbotura factory goes to zero at Montemarta-Cónica, Seville's primary landfill. At Phase Initial scale — 400 tonnes processed every day — that's 146,000 tonnes per year diverted. That's roughly equivalent to removing the contents of 200 Olympic swimming pools from landfill every year. And EU law already requires Spain to close the landfill route by 2035. Seville's factory means meeting that deadline with room to spare.
146,000 tpy diverted — EU 2035 compliance secured
🌡️
160,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas — gone every year.
Landfilling organic material generates methane — one of the most powerful greenhouse gases. Composting and sorting generate their own emissions from transport and energy. The Carbotura factory is designed to divert approximately 160,000 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent per year at Phase Initial — that's like taking roughly 34,000 cars off Seville's roads, permanently, every single year. This is designed performance, confirmed at commercial operation.
Equivalent to removing 34,000 cars from Seville's roads every year
💧
Water recovered — in a city under drought pressure.
The Carbotura conversion process recovers approximately 480,000 cubic metres of process water every year — almost twice the annual water held by the Jardines del Guadalquivir. Seville and the Guadalquivir basin face documented water stress and repeated drought protocols. Water recovered inside the manufacturing process reduces pressure on the wider basin and supports EMASESA's water resilience framework. This is not a secondary benefit — for a city like Seville, it is a primary one.
~480,000 m³/yr water recovery — Guadalquivir basin benefit
🔬
PFAS — permanently destroyed, not buried.
PFAS — "forever chemicals" found in food packaging, textiles, non-stick coatings — currently pass through Seville's collection system and end up in landfill or spread on agricultural land through biosolids. They do not break down. The Carbotura factory operates at temperatures designed to permanently destroy PFAS, dioxins, and persistent organic pollutants — in an oxygen-free environment where the chemistry cannot produce new harmful compounds. They don't go somewhere else. They stop existing.
Permanently destroyed — not relocated, not buried
🏭
Seville's materials become products — sold globally.
The Carbotura factory converts Seville's materials — plastics, organics, textiles, composites — into manufactured outputs: synthetic graphite for battery supply chains, construction-grade carbon materials, recovered metals. These products are sold on global advanced manufacturing markets. The royalty Seville receives is funded by those sales. Your city's materials become a globally traded product — and Seville gets a share of the proceeds for 30 years.

✓~160,000 tCO₂e per year diverted — equivalent to 34,000 fewer cars every year.
✓City pays a Beneficiation Fee — at or below current disposal cost — and receives a growing royalty back.
✓PFAS permanently destroyed at over 1,200°C — not buried, not spread.
✓92 direct manufacturing jobs created in Seville — plus 275 indirect positions.
✓From Year 2: approximately €19 million per year flows back to the City — rising every year.
✓Spain's EU 2035 landfill target is met — with 7 years of lead time.
WHERE THE MONEY GOES

A royalty that funds Seville

The Circular Royalty™ flows to the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla's treasury. How it is used — whether to reduce rates, fund infrastructure, improve services, or invest in parks — is decided by elected officials. Carbotura does not direct it. It simply flows, growing every year, for 30 years.

~€19M
per year in Year 2 — into the City's treasury
€975M+
total over 30 years — to the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla
~€32M
per year flowing into the broader Seville metro economy — wages, suppliers, local business
DESIGNED ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE — PHASE INITIAL

What cleaner looks like — in numbers

~160,000
tCO₂e per year diverted — like removing 34,000 cars from Seville's roads every year
~480,000

HOW IT WORKS

How the City gets paid

It's not a subsidy. It's not a grant. The City of Seville earns a share of what Carbotura makes by selling manufactured products — products made from Seville's own materials.

Royalty back to Seville
A growing cash payment to the Ayuntamiento — every year, for 30 years.

For every €1 Seville pays in Beneficiation Fees, Carbotura is designed to return more than €1.20 in Circular Royalty™ — from Year 2. And that ratio grows every year.

This is not a discount. It is not a rebate. It is a contractual royalty derived from the value of what your materials become.

One Circular Supply Agreement
Circular Royalty™
City of Seville pays Fee; receives Circular Royalty™ at 120%+ from Month 13.
— Circular Royalty™
$0 fee. City of Seville deeds project site at signing; receives Circular Royalty™ from Month 13.
+ Exogenesis™ Royalty add-on (Vertedero Las Minas)
Subject to Waste Characterization Study. If elected: Vertedero Las Minas deeded at signing; $50/ton Exogenesis™ Royalty from Year 6.
WHERE

Where the factory will be — and where your materials come from today

The factory is planned for the south industrial zone — about 8 miles from Seville city centre. The landfill it will replace is about a mile away from the planned factory site.

🏭 The planned factory site
South industrial zone — about 8 miles from the city centre. Industrial land, already used for manufacturing. Your enclosed collection vehicle drops materials here — no open storage.
🗑️ The landfill being replaced
About a mile from the planned factory site. Today it receives what Seville generates. Under this programme, materials that would go here instead go to the factory — and become products.
🏠 Where your materials come from
Seville city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods. Collection routes continue as normal — one bin, enclosed vehicle, same schedule. The only difference is where they end up.
💧 The water treatment plants
Seville's water utility (EMASESA) operates 11 water treatment plants across the city. The treated solids they produce — currently spread on agricultural land — can also be processed by the factory, permanently eliminating the PFAS in those materials.
COMMON QUESTIONS

What people ask

Yes. Plastics, food scraps, garden materials, paper, textiles, packaging — everything goes into one enclosed collection. The Carbotura factory handles all separation internally. You don't need to sort. You don't need to learn new rules. The five-fraction system that confused households goes away. Your collection schedule stays the same. The vehicle is fully enclosed. The only change for most Seville residents is simpler — one bin, not five.
Today, food and organic materials decompose in bins, during transport, and in open areas at sorting sites. The Carbotura factory is a fully enclosed, air-locked manufacturing building — the same standard as any modern food or pharmaceutical plant. Materials arrive in sealed vehicles and go directly into the enclosed processing building. There are no open piles. No outdoor composting. No exposed materials. The conversion itself happens in a sealed, oxygen-free chamber — there is no combustion and no organic decomposition pathway. The facility is designed to have almost no smell or atmospheric discharge. The factory will be located in an established industrial zone, about 8 miles from the city centre — not in a residential area.
No. The Carbotura factory is built and operated at Carbotura's own cost — zero public capital required. The City of Seville pays a Beneficiation Fee (TMC Fee) per tonne — at or below what it currently pays for disposal — and from Year 2, receives a growing Circular Royalty™ back from Carbotura that exceeds that fee. In the long run, the programme reduces the cost pressure on Seville's waste and environment budget, not increases it. No capital raise is needed from residents or ratepayers.
The Carbotura factory is capable of processing every material type a Seville household generates — including mixed plastics, composite packaging, textiles, food waste, garden materials, paper, and construction debris. For materials that require special handling — such as batteries, large electronics, and certain hazardous household items — Seville's existing Ecocentro network (26 civic amenity points across the city) continues to serve that function. Nothing changes for those streams. The factory is designed for all standard household material types — the ones that currently cause confusion across the five-bin system — and nothing needs to change about how you handle specialist items.
No — and the difference matters a great deal. Incineration burns materials using oxygen and a flame. The output is ash, CO₂, water vapour, and air emissions. The material is destroyed. You cannot make a product from ash.

The Carbotura factory uses microwave energy — not fire. The conversion chamber contains no oxygen. Nothing burns. Instead, microwave energy breaks the chemical bonds in materials apart — at temperatures above 1,200°C — in an airless, flameless environment. The output is not ash. It is reformed carbon compounds, recovered metals, and process water — manufactured products that can be sold. Think of it as a process that breaks materials apart without burning them, in a sealed, oxygen-free chamber. The chemistry is incompatible with combustion. It cannot produce the air emissions or ash associated with incineration.

Incinerators are classified as waste facilities. Carbotura's factory is classified as a manufacturing facility — a fundamentally different category with different permits, different investors, and different economics.

Carbotura builds factories, not waste facilities. That distinction isn't just language — it determines which permits apply, which investors can participate, and whether the 30-year royalty structure is financially viable. Carbotura has filed a federal petition with the EPA confirming its process is manufacturing, not waste treatment. If a local or state authority were to classify the facility as a waste operation — even informally — Carbotura would not be able to proceed. The investment model requires manufacturing status. This is one reason Carbotura works closely with communities before committing capital: to confirm the regulatory path is clear.
